What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is often shrouded in mystery and myth but in reality it is a natural and amazing phenomenon.
Hypnosis (the name is derived from the Greek word Hypnos ~ meaning to sleep) is simply a natural, powerful and wonderful frame of mind in which people can use theri unconscious mind and imagination far more effectively to feel better or achieve things that they previously thought impossible through conscious effort or willpower.

 Hypnosis Myths and Misconceptions

It is unfortunate that most people's first encounter with hypnosis is through watching television and stage hypnotists at work, This can lead people to believe that they may be controlled or manipulated or made to do something "silly" though nothing could be further from the truth.
There is absolutely no question of being controlled or manipulated ~ you may be surprised to find out that during hypnosis your senses, concentration and awareness are actually heightened.
It is also a commonly held belief that there are some people that "cannot be hypnotised" but this is again inaccurate. Except for those who are drunk, on recreational drugs or mentally handicapped, EVERYBODY, both
children and adults, can easily achieve the state of hypnosis and enjoy its benefits.
Hypnosis is a completely natural state of mind and at all times you remain perfectly in control and totally conscious and awake. You do not fall asleep and indeed you can even talk quite easily. A good definition of hypnosis would be 'a profound state of relaxation and concentration brought about by suggestion'

The History Of Hypnosis
Hypnosis and hypnotism in some form or other has been in use for thousands of years. There is a great deal of evidence that Hypnosis and hypnotic suggestion was being used by the Ancient Greeks and Romans ~ for theraputic benefit~ as far back as about the fourth century BC. Hypnosis, hypnotism and suggestion as we know it can be traced to the 1700's and the Austrian Franz Anton Mesmer (the origin of the term Mesmerism)

Hypnotherapy

During a hypnotherapy session you will find it easy to relax into a most pleasant hypnotic state of comfort and relaxation simply by listening to my voice combined with soothing music. Being hypnotized has some similarities to the feeling of daydreaming and many clients have found it is the most mentally and physically relaxed they have felt in a long time.
